Root resorption associated with orthodontic force in IL-1Beta knockout mouse.

چکیده
Root resorption (RR) is one of the most common sequelae of orthodontic treatment. A key role for a genetic influence in external apical root resorption (EARR) was described recently, by describing both linkage and linkage disequilibrium between interleukin-1B (IL-1B) and EARR in orthodontically treated individuals, accounting for approximately 15% of the variation in EARR. The murine model, which allows for a controlled and reproducible orthodontic mechanical loading was applied to IL1B knockout (-/-) mice (background strain C57BL/6J) to investigate the role of IL-1B in RR.

Effect of interleukin-4 on orthodontic tooth movement and associated root resorption.
OBJECTIVES Interleukin-4 (IL-4) is a recognized immunomodulatory cytokine that regulates bone homeostasis. However, the influence of IL-4 on orthodontic tooth movement (OTM) and subsequent root resorption is still unknown. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of IL-4 on tooth movement and its associated root resorption in a mouse model. MATERIALS AND METHODS The ...
متن کاملA preliminary investigation of short-term cytokine expression in gingival crevicular fluid secondary to high-level orthodontic forces and the associated root resorption: case series analytical study
BACKGROUND Orthodontically induced iatrogenic root resorption (OIIRR) is an unavoidable inflammatory process. Several factors claimed to be related to the severity of OIIRR. Orthodontic forces cause micro-trauma to the periodontal ligament and activate a cascade of cellular events associated with local periodontal inflammation. The purpose of this split-mouth study were (1) to investigate the c...
متن کاملBiomechanical aspects of external root resorption in orthodontic therapy.
External apical root resorption is a common phenomenon associated with orthodontic treatment. The factors relevant to root resorption can be divided into biological and mechanical factors. Some mechanical and biological factors might be associated with an increased or decreased risk of root resorption during orthodontic treatment. For mechanical factors, the extensive tooth movement, root torqu...
متن کاملComparisons of orthodontic root resorption under heavy and jiggling reciprocating forces during experimental tooth movement in a rat model
OBJECTIVE Root mobility due to reciprocating movement of the tooth (jiggling) may exacerbate orthodontic root resorption (ORR). "Jiggling" describes mesiodistal or buccolingual movement of the roots of the teeth during orthodontic treatment. In the present study, buccolingual movement is described as "jiggling." We aimed to investigate the relationship between ORR and jiggling and to test for p...

Introduction:Orthodontic treatment is associted with a risk of root resorption. The aim of this study was to determine the risk of moderate and sever root resorption in orthodontic patients treated with fixed orthodontic appliance. Method:A case-control study was performed on 70 orthodontic treated patients with moderate and sever root resorption and 70 controls matched for age, sex, duration ...
